Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson Takes 3rd Term Oath

Trustees Lakecia Whimper, Judy Abraham, Patricia Chao-Malave Sworn In

(Broadview, IL) - Surrounded by family, local leaders, and members of the community, Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson was officially sworn in for her third term in office on Monday, May 5, during a heartfelt ceremony held at the Broadview Village Hall.

The oath of office was administered to Thompson by Pastor Stephen E. Richardson of Jordan Temple Church in Hillside, who led the ceremonial moment with grace and reverence. Standing at Mayor Thompson’s side were her daughter, Sidnei, and Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon.

“Serving the people of Broadview is the honor of my life,” said Mayor Thompson following her swearing-in. “This is our moment to take everything we have learned and built in my first two terms and lead boldly with momentum, with mastery, with a clear, unwavering vision for the future of Broadview. We are not starting from scratch. We are leveling up.”

Thompson pledged to advance affordable housing projects, green infrastructure, public safety, educational partnerships, and economic equity.

“They aren’t just stand-alone projects,” said Thompson. “They part of an ecosystem with a holistic plan for a thriving, inclusive, and resilient Broadview, a place where families feel safe, seniors feel valued, businesses feel supported, and residents feel empowered.”

Also sworn in were Trustees Judy Abraham and Patricia Chao-Malave, who were each elected to new terms on the Village Board. Trustee Lakecia Whimper was sworn in for her first term and Cook County Clerk Gordon administered the oaths for all three trustees.
Mayor Thompson praised the trustees.

“Broadview is fortunate to have dedicated public servants like Trustees Abraham, Chao-Malave, and Whimper,” said Thompson. “I look forward to working alongside them as we continue to advance the progress our community deserves.”

Village Hall was filled to standing-room only capacity with residents, community leaders, family members, and supporters who attended the ceremony.
